Does anyone do....

Sewing stuff... like making their own clothes or is like a fashion designer or something.

I'm making my own halloween costume and this time I want it to be good, instead of previous crap attempts....

so if anyone could give me some hints or tips.. you would seriously rock ^_^

thefool 04-10-2009 11:40 AM

i dont.. but im sure you could find some cool tutorials on youtube!

Liar. 04-10-2009 04:07 PM

I sewed a button onto my top the other day.

Shadowsaurus 04-10-2009 04:42 PM

I make my own clothes and design and sell clothes too :) What would you like to know?

i dont know what i need to know... if theres just any "tricks of the trade" so to speak...

BunnythesAINT 04-10-2009 05:10 PM

I wish. I learned to hand sew and would occasionally do like a little project or like repair some pants but I'm by no means some like...Project Runway type of person lol.

Practise on spare pieces of fabric first, I recommend. Also take your time with it. Other than that, good luck really =]

I think 'The Hierophant' does that kind of thing. She might be able to help.

rockaroni 04-10-2009 06:58 PM

I used to customize my clothes a lot, it's something I should get back into.

Though I am making my halloween costume too, it's a Sally dress, from Nightmare Before Christmas :D

That's too cool.
I want a Jack Skellington jacket, not for halloween, just to wear on normal days lol.

rockaroni 04-10-2009 08:10 PM

I'm trying to get my boything to go as Jack. He's practically skinny enough :P but he wants to go as Oogie Boogie.

I.Heart.And 04-10-2009 08:14 PM

Aw, shame. That would of been great.

Oogie Boogie is the nuts! My ex went as that once...he did it crap though. Just waddled around in a duvet cover

rockaroni 04-10-2009 10:03 PM

That doesn't work! I think if I do have to make oogie boogie I'd just get a load of sack material and staple pillows in it. Where would you actually get sack material from? But I want us to be Jack & Sally because they're the best couple in the world ever.

(this hijack was totally unintentional!)

Kestrel 04-10-2009 10:12 PM

totally fine by me ^_^

LilTom 04-10-2009 10:15 PM

If my jeans get too torn, they become shorts. My shoes are held together with duct tape. That's how I do sewing.

Louise 04-10-2009 11:38 PM

I always wanted to but never got round to it.

I can't even do that

I make the odd thing, but I'm not especially good, I'm a messy sewer, and I son't think I'm any good at making clothes.

Leo Pard 05-10-2009 12:46 AM

CAt does.
She's amazing.

I used t attempt it but I fail.

_Mariana_ 05-10-2009 12:48 PM

i make a lot of my fancy dress stuff. ill try find some pics later. its great because you can get it exactly the way you want it and the right fit.
top tip - measure stuff instead of guessing! oh, and leave space for seams! i've ruined a few things by rushing and guessing instead of measuring. You can try cutting the pattern out of paper and pinning it together to begin with to get a rough idea how it will look when it's made up. sounds fun xx

Kestrel 05-10-2009 07:14 PM

I've tried the paper thing before.... but my creation (tira's costume from soul calibur 3(ithink) for all you gamer peeps) got binned when i was in hospital thanks to my mom.... ok.. so measure and allow for seems... got it ^_^ thank youuu!
