I jump in this thread, every doctor I've seen has told me I had a mood disorder problem, although they never told me which one. |

*pops head into thread* Hi
I am in the middle of having my diagnosis changed. I was originally diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder and depression but now they can't decide if I have Major depressive disorder complicated by BPD traits and generalised anxiety disorder or if it is Borderline Personality Disorder complicated by severe depression and generalised anxiety disorder . All they do know is they can't establish which until my impulsive behaviours are under control. This is a bit of a pointless post really as I don't know why I am posting or what I expect anyone to say really |
Hey, thought I'd jump into this thread. Used to have a diagnosis of BPD until I had a hypomanic episode in November and they diagnosed bipolar. Have been doing ok but the move back to uni for the new term has been hard and I've got a bit muddled up at times.
Niniane - I hope it went ok with your psych last night. Doctor Colbertface - yeah it's always hard to make a diagnosis while you still have impulsive behaviours. They seem to go "impulsive, therefore BPD" a lot, which doesn't help because then you get labelled with the wrong diagnosis and it means that you don't get the support that you need. |
Sorry to bump this thread, but thought it better than starting a new one...
Has anyone here done social rhythm therapy for bipolar? Did it help at all? My mentor at uni keeps going on about routine etc being good for bipolar, but at uni I am **** with keeping routine, and she mentioned this could help. Just wondering what your thoughts are. xx |
I haven't but I would really like to because I think it would be really helpful.
|
Hey :) I have been diagnosed with Clinical depression, generalised anxiety disorder and panic disorder. Im currently on my 3rd medication, done DBT and CBT, what else is there to do????
|
You know you have a mood disorder when you are still awake and highly stimulated at 3am.
Fingers crossed this is not another episode coming on. |
Bump bump. My mood disorder is seriously annoying me. I want to be better but don't know how to make it happen.
|
Hi firefly!
Sorry to hear your struggling. Are you on meds? I'm on a whole cocktail of them at the moment for bipolar, I'm sick of it, the last year and a half have been a total rollercoaster and I'm ready to get off it! Hoping new meds start making a difference for me soon! Sorry about going on about me there! |
Hi Kija,
Sorry things have been so rough. What medication are you on? Have you got any support right now? I'm on a cocktail for bipolar and EUPD. Just started lamotragine. I'm on aripiprazole, Pregablin and mirtazapine. |
Nice to see this thread back.
My bipolar is not very stable at the moment and it is starting to get to me too. I hope the new meds start to help you both. |
I'm on lamotrigine, olanzapine and fluoxetine. I hate the olanzapine as it makes me gain weight! how do you find the lamotrigine?
sorry that your both unstable, it really can be no fun at all. |
Hi Tiptoes, what's going on?
Kija, I was on olanzapine and used to munch on healthy things like dried fruit (not sure if it's healthy) and used sweetener and managed my weight that way. With lamotragine, I've only been on it for three days. Not really sure what I think off it. Not noticing any difference but it's a low dose. |
I try to snack on healthy things, but I still gain a ton of weight! I've only been on lamotrigine for 2 weeks, just had the dose upped! See my psychiatrist next week so hoping he can offer me something else! What dose of lamotrigine you on?
|
Oh right. Hang in there.
I'm on 50mg until I see my psych next. I was on it when I live in Dubai and got a rash so they are going super slow with a low dose. But we did know if he was a heat rash on a lamotragine rash. |
Life is really rather stressful at the moment and there isn't a lot I can do about it.
My mood keeps shifting from one extreme to the other without a break in between. It is getting so tiresome. How are you both doing? |
Would it help talking about what's going on? That sounds really difficult. Do you think the stress is causing a constant shift in your moods?
How is everyone today? I'm still feeling low and lack motivation to do much. The flats a tip. |
I'm coming to the end of a stressful course and it is rather intense. My GP says she sees a lot of people struggling even without a diagnosed MH illness. It also coincided with a drop in my medication dose so we have gone back up a little bit to see if that stabilising things. The swings seem to have slowed but it means I'm stuck in low mood not sure which is worse! I'm seeing my GP again later this week so I'll see what she has to say about it.
I'm feeling low and lacking motivation too it sucks! Is there anything prompting this low mood? It is so difficult when low mood makes mess in your home build up, are there any small bits you could tidy? I find it is sometimes easier when there is a small period of set time - like washing a few dishes whilst the kettle boils when I am making a cup of tea or do a bit of tidying during an advert break on the tv. |
It does suck. Do you think you could be anxious about what you're going to when the course is finished? Hopefully the medication increase will help stabilise things. It's a good sign that things have slowed down. Is your GP the only source of help you're getting for your swings?
That's a good idea. I'll give it a shot. I'm watching orange is the new black and after each episode I'm trying to clean and tidy little bits of the flat. So that my partner won't complain. But it's hard. I've worked six days and only have today off. I don't feel like doing much tbh. Work is stressing me out. |
