It might sound like a silly suggestion but i'd like to suggest changing the name of the 'First Aid Advice' forum to something along the lines of 'Medical Advice' or simmilar. The current name implies that the forum is for emergancy problems, wheras some of the posts in the forum focus more on general medical questions. It would just help people find the right forum to post questions in.

To me first aid doesnt sound like its for emergances only, and the fourm is for all emergancy and just medical queries.

I agree with above, to me first aid is just someone needing some medical advice whether it be in an emergency or non-emergency situation.

I agree as well, first aid is really obvious as to what it is. To me 'Medical Advice' sounds like it doesnt sound like you'd get help for cuts or burns or other self harm related injuries. It might confuse some people whereas First Aid is universal, it also makes it clear that its not major enquries.

I dont think that makes sense but it does in my head.

As for changing the name of the forum, I agree that "Medical Advice" sounds better, however, we do not want to give the impression that we are treating people. First Aid correctly implies in my mind that we are there just to help you along a bit until you can speak with your regular doctor, GP etc.

As for having different colors, it was suggested before V3 went live, but the end decision was that it would make things too complicated with 2 other mods colors already. HOWEVER, if enough members think that it would be a good idea, i'm sure Harley would reconsider it.

I actually don't think colouring the First Aid Advisors would be a good idea.

Logically, I can see where you are coming from. However, the team currently consists of only three people and if they were to be coloured, I'd be concerned about the increasing amount of PM's they would get for things that could be posted in the first aid forum and delt with when they were online - and able to cope with things. Not everybody everyday is able to cope with an influx of PM's, and first aid advisors are only human. I know it would be great to have a team that you could simply PM, but I think the staff and a bit overworked & understaffed now, so maybe it's not in the best intrest at this current time?

Also, I think there would be too many colours on the forum. It might not be confusing to you, Chels, but it might be to new members.

And, there is a whole entire forum dedicated to the first aid team where you can get their advice, opinions and other suggestions from them, and members. Unlike mods - who you do have to PM sometimes to get something done - the First Aid team can be contacted via that, and at their own convienece and best time can help you. [Which, by the way, is done very quickly and effectively]

Hence, having them in a different colour isn't really needed as you don't have to PM them. Also, their names are farely clear when you're in the forum under a sitckied list, and there is only three of them so you can remember/find them if you do need to PM someone :P

That's not to say that I'm totally against it. But what if a First Aid Advisor logged online and was confronted with several PM's when they were actually feeling quite unstable themselves? It would only place increased pressure on an already flat-out-busy team, who are already working very, very hard just to get the forums and emails and the current rate of PMs done - let alone an increase of them.

Or so my thinking goes. i *heart* first aid advisors, don't get me wrong.

The first aid advisors *heart* aimee also (well at least this one does :hehe:)

And she does bring up a good point about the fact that generally you can post anything in the forum as long as it isn't against the rules, and if you need to PM one of us with specifics, then there is the list stickied at the top of the page.

Anything that is urgent enough that you need a reply from a first aider RIGHT NOW is going to be urgent enough that you should be calling 911, 999, 000 or whatever the emergency number is for your anyway.
