Okay, the time has finally come for me to get off my arse and get a job!
I've written out a CV, but am having a bit of trouble writing a covering letter to go with it.
Having been out of education for a year, i've even forgotten how to start/finish a letter. I thought of putting dear sir/madam but i know it's a woman, so should I put her name or what? Do I finish yours sincerely or?!
Heeeellppppp!
What should I write?!
The job is for a photography assistant thing btw.
Thanks :D

Yeh, pretty much what Eleutheros said.
I used the same covering letter for every single job i applied for, but i simply changed what job title i was applying for/the reason as to why i was applying (that's if it wasn't the same type of job, i.e. some of the jobs i applied for would be in an office, some in childcare..so i'd change when appropriate).
I always put "To whom it may concern" at the top, unless i knew the name. And always put Yours Sincerely, wrote my name, printed it off & signed it.
Goodluck :) xx

The advice I was given was to put To Whom it May Concert, cause often, your cv is seen by more than one person *nods* good lukc!

put your address in the top right corner, and a space, then the date under that. then a space, and on the left of the page put her name and the company/school/department name. then a space.
then put dear Mrs/Ms etc.
then write the body of the letter.
then put yours sincerely,
then a gap for your signature after your print it off
then your name
use yours faithfully if you use to whom it may concern or sir/madam. yours sincerely if you use their name.
