Just thought I may as well put this as it is a 'sperm-related' fact.

Human sperm counts and health of the sperm cells is like the worst in just about all animal species. I think the count for healthy sperm is something like 70% being average. That may be wrong but I know I definately was told it was a figure less than 80% (right now I can't be arsed to check my repro notes for a fact that I don't need to know!) whereas if I was looking at a sperm sample from pretty much any other species I'd be wanting healthy sperm samples to have around 97+% healthy sperm cells...

Humans are basically rubbish at reproducing... which I personally am quite happy about as our conception rate is also really low when we're at peak fertility compared to that of pretty much any species (Ours in a 'normal' human ie. either partner having 'fertility problems' is like 30% or less at its PEAK. Animals on the other hand have a conception rate generally of 80-85+%!!! So glad of that fact coz I REALLY don't want to have kids! Though, that does not mean that if you have sex unprotected when you're most fertile you will only get pregnant 3 times out of 10, it depends on the individual...
