I cant send a PM, well actually, 4, I tried diff people as well.
Just a question, the PM was long, could it be too long? is there a limit?
It came up with the message the RYL was under maintenance or something else and just froze and lost everything I wrote
Help?

I dont think its because of the length but I could be wrong. I think if its if you take a while to write it, you get logged out of the site when you try to send it. If you are writing something long copy it before you send it so if you get logged out, you can just sign back in and paste it.

I am sure now its the length (18pgs on word *dont ask!*)
I tried to get another member to send it to the recipient, and she couldnt either, and I have never been logged out of RYL, I believe I have it set so I am on constantly if I have the webpage up (Y)
Thankyou, In the end I was so cheesed off I did it in word cos I know my luck (was praying for no power cuts)
xx Thanks :)

Oh I've never tried sending something that long, I guess youll have to break it up into parts and send it that way.
I just checked the control panel for that setting option and couldnt find it (to constantly be logged in if you have the site opened). I get logged out if I stay on the same page for like 5 minutes, I guess its just me then.

Hmm, I will go look at mine and see if I can find where that is, if it was there xx *umms and ahhs*
ohhh I think there is a preference when you log in, it asks you to like, save your password or something, cos I cant find an option on the control pannel either xx

If you can reproduce this, and it sounds like you can, might you be able to provide us with the text you tried to PM (in confidence) so we can look into the problem?
Sounds like a possible website bug. Send to james [ at ] recoveryourlife.com.
Thanks :)

I found out from the mod I sent it to (was destined there anyway) that it was cos it was a format (msn text) that isnt supported in PMs.
I got this error code HTTP500 and it said it was an internal website problem.
Does that all fit?

Very interesting - the http500 is a server error though, so is still likely to be a website bug...
...if you're able to provide the text by any chance that would be great. If not, I understand.
Thanks again for your help :)
EDIT: Marie, I didn't realise it was you, lovely to speak to you again!

Of the top of my head (there are thousands of settings and options on RYL of course) PM's are set to allow a maximum of 50,000 words, which should be enough in most scenarios! I am sorry it wasnt in this case - but I would suggest email as being best if you need to transport that much text :)
By the way, the 'Remember Me' checkbox can be found next to your username and password box up when you log in. Press that and RYL will keep you logged in, even if you leave the site and come back. For anyone not using a shared computer such as one in a library - checking this box will make using RYL a lot easier.
