I wasn't sure whether to put this here or the general SH board, but decided on here because I worry about harming younger people - not because I don't think a younger person could help or assist me with my dilemma.

I really need people to tell me why I should listen to a doctor when he tells me that I need to be admitted for SI consequences. Initially, he was willing to let me make the choice but as things have developed, he has become very insistent that I go to the hospital. I believe that he believes this is necessary. But I also believe he may be wrong and I'm willing to take the risk of finding out. I've asked myself why, and I think the major reason is that I don't want the injuries fixed. I make all kinds of other excuses - but they are just excuses. I just don't want the injuries to be made better.

The only reason for going to the hospital that I can see right now is that if I don't, I will be forced to, and my stay will be more difficult if I'm involuntary. But I want there to be a better reason. Is there one?

I'm not sure what I can say to help you but I just wanted to say you aren't alone in these feelings.

A doctor won't suggest admission on a whim. Usually it's because they feel there is a real risk to the health of you or others. Also because they may feel that your home environment may not be enough to keep you safe.

The thought may be terrifying but many find it hugely beneficial and not as bad as they imagined. It is always far easier to post bad storied that happy ones.

I would suggest the next time you see the doc asking if there are any alternatives or asking for a second opinion.

If it comes to the fact that all you are offered is admission then take it voluntarily.
