I am on 20mg olanzapine and have been for six years. I am in partial remission of schizophrenia. I barely get any symptoms nowadays. I find the olanzapine does f all for my autism-related issues though, which is my main problem nowadays, not psychotic phenomena.
Due to the fact that I'm doing well mentally, olanzapine has become increasingly sedating.
If I drink caffeine (two cups of tea a day) my autism issues get really bad, and I go hypomanic.
If I don't drink caffeine, I am oversedated and cognitively dulled to the point that I can't function.
I cannot drink caffeine and I cannot go outside whenever I want to. I do exercise. I eat healthily.
I'm decreasing my olanzapine to 17.5mg/day to see if that helps. I've asked C and my mum to watch out for me in the small chance I get ill on 17.5mg/day.
But what else can I do to reduce the sedation / cognitive dulling? I really despise sleeping and my cognition is very important to me.
