i went to a therapeutic community in 2010. I developed an immediate attachment to a nurse called Emily. I don't know how to overcome this pain that I experienced when leaving her. I frequently dream about her and still long for her company and support. I have failed to find a person that has developed an attachment so intense that I did with her. I feel like a crazy person for developing such a bond with a stranger. The crazy thing is, I found it so hard to talk to her for fear of her judgment. I won't write anymore for now, I just need advice of how to deal with such severe attachment problems.

What would you say to someone else in the same situation?
Did the therapeutic community ever help you with this attachment?
Is there any benifit in being attached to this lady?

I would say why do you think you have become so attached to this person? Are they giving you something you were never given?
I never mentioned this issue with my psychotherapist. I regret that deeply. I would advise any other person going through the same situation as me to bring it up and explore it, as I was too shy.
Emily has made me the person I am now. I am strong, I am brave and I strive to be like her.

I never experienced someone so emotionally strong and sure of themselves. As a child I craved for my mum to be strong and boundaried. Emily taught me how to respect parental figures.
