I've been taking citalopram 20mg at night for two weeks and I feel very up and down. One day I feel like I'm ready to take on the world and the next day, I am lethargic and depressed. Should I expect this while the medication is building up in my system? Opinions and ancedotes are welcome :D

Iirc 20mg is a fairly low dose, the fluctuations in mood might suggest you need your dose increasing, but as always it's best to check with your prescriber and see what they advise

Mention it to your doctor, but remember that it could take another 2-4 weeks to work properly :)

Antidepressants (and recovery from depression in general) isn't necessarily a linear thing. How you are feeling on a given day depends on which of your symptoms are most prominent and which ones the anti-depressant is improving.

Some people find that anti-depressants improve their motivation and enthusiasm early on in the treatment but they are still feeling many of the other depression symptoms.

Try to pace yourself, it is easy over do it on days when you are feeling ready to take on the world. Do you keep track of your mood?
