Why is it that because you're depressed you must be making up every other problem, even if its a chronic problem due to an injury as a child?
Why is it that its ok to be patronising with anyone who has a mental health problem?
Since when is it ok to judge someones needs by how bad the scarring is on their arms?
Why don't doctors believe anything you say to them as a patient, even if the patient is a healthcare professional themselves?
Why don't doctors take mental health seriously?

Nah its ok, I'm just bullshitting you, dr., I enjoy taking time out to walk into your surgery, make up crap, tell you more than I would ever tell my friends or family, show you my scars and admit how ****ing **** I am. None of its true, I just enjoy wasting your time. I obviously just need paracetamol. Thats all. Nothing else. So thanks for the **** prescription, no help what so ever. I will just get back to my ****ing brilliant life, maybe go and keep pretending to self harm, pretending to be suicidal. Yeah its alright, your so clever seeing through it all. Im completely ok you ****ing useless piece of ****. Sorry I wasted 5 minutes of your time. you ****.

Serendipity.

I'm sorry that you've had this experience. Would it help to talk about what actually happened?

So i say I'm struggling with my MH at the moment. He has a very brief look at my notes ( having been depressed for 7 years, multiple a and e trips for suicide and self harming and says so 3 or 4 years. That would coincide with starting uin. Eh no mate its been 7 years. Oh have you ever thought of harming yourself. Are you shitting me???? So I say i still am. So he asks to look at my arm even though Ive said I have no open wounds at the moment. you know uni has counselling? eh yeah Ive been there they say i need NHS support, what I told them is outwit their scope. He gives me a website to refer myself for stress management at a local community group. Yeah its stress and low self esteem, thats why I have a **** load of notes about my MH, accompanied with multiple emergency referrals. Ive been severely depressed for years. yeah a wee bit of stress management is great.

Then also:
So I injured my back when I was 12. Dr need xrayd it then cause "we don't X-ray girls your age in that area". But everyone since is convinced I fractured it. So since then I have had ridiculous back pain where I can suddenly be unable to walk as discs slip and trap nerves and now and again it can caught the spinal cord. Its considered a good day if i can put on my socks without being in tears. So Ive been on cocodamol and diazepam for when its at its worst so I can try and live a normal life. Its been a year since my las prescription as I've been on placement and keeping relatively active which helps. But I'm back to uni and this is when its worse as i sit most days all day studying and thats when it goes into spasm.

So i go to the dr and ask for a noter prescription having been a year since my last. Ive never had this dr before so he looks at when i was last given some and sas he won't give me more as they are addictive and i shouldn't have back pain for so long as a young adult. I must be addicted to them and they must be causing ym back pain. So he writes up a prescription. I tell him I can't take NSAIDS as I get really ill with them. So he get s bit peeved and scribbles out the prescription he's printed, then gives me a prescription of paracetamol. Yeah great, that will stop the next 2 day spasm i get. And will allow me to function as a normal person... wanker.

That's so stressful, it's horrible to feel invalidated by professionals. Is there another GP you can see in future who might be more understanding?

I'm so unbelievably sorry you had to go through that. I've had similar things said to me and I know how crushing it can be. I thoroughly agree that you should try to see another GP if possible.

It was really courageous of you to open up about how much you are hurting. Please keep trying because you deserve help.

I was just wondering, if you are or have ever been under a community mental health team or CAMHS?

If the pain gets worse can you get stronger painkillers at A&E?

Make a formal complaint. He went against NICE Guidelines.

Thanks of the reply guys. Yeah the gp surgery I'm under is ridiculously organised. I have no idea what his name is so can't really not ask for him. And I don't know the names of any of the gps there. They are also ridiculous for making appointments, its like a week and a half waiting list which is normal, but you can't make an appt more than 2 weeks in advance, so the open appts are very limited.

Im so frustrated, he's knocked me back even further and as a result Ive not started the anti-d's he's put me on. I just can't face it.

Ive not been under CAHMS. Ive only been under clinical psychologists, but by the time you get the appt with them I have been moving within a couple months so never been able to start a proper care pathway.

Im hating how much this has knocked me back!
