I am having trouble staying awake and I am wondering if it's related to my depression.
I go to sleep around midnight and sleep until around 10. 45. I am awake until 12 and then I fall asleep for about two hours. I am fine until 6.30 when I fall asleep for a hour.
I don't drink a lot of coffee so I have trouble staying awake. I have tried going to bed earlier but it doesn't make any difference.
So is it all related to my depression or is there something else going on?

Its really hard to say. It could be depression as when Im depressed I sleep more. it could be down to meds, if you've had a recent med change it could be that its affecting your sleep pattern or it could be something physical like anemia.
I think it would be good to see your gp to make sure its nothing physical and then talk to your mental health team if the gp says your healthy to see if its a meds or mood thing.
Its really hard to say.
hope you get it sorted x

It could be Depression, it could be something physical, I would go to your doctor, request a blood test, tell them what is going on, and if your bloods are clear, then you know for sure it is your Depression/Mental Health.

As others have said, it could be many things, physical or emotional. It might also be worth thinking about whether you use sleep as an avoidance strategy (ie to avoid negative emotions). I do sometimes almost subconsciously.

Depression is a very complicated disease which is second leading cause of the mental.

Did you find out why you're sleeping so much? I am similar and mine is a combination of meds and depression. Depression started it, new meds continued it. X

No it didnt. However it has mostly improved - I have the odd day here and there rather than every single day. I had one last week where I fell asleep for 6 hours straight in the middle of the afternoon.
I did explain to my cpn, but all she did was ask if I felt ill or anything (which I don't just tired). She was kinda of dismissive. :-/

I'm glad it has improved for you. It's quite stressful I find because I need to get things done and instead of doing things I'm just sleeping.
