SO its been many moons since I have posted on here.

I have BPD managed to get myself free from SI and meds for 18months then had some crap go on and havent been able to bounce back.

My Dr put me on prozac (fluxotine) which I was on and successful with before but this time round it made me worse depression wise and did not help with my anxiety at all.

I am now on Sertraline and have been for 1 week so far It has reduce my SI urges but I cannot sleep no matter how early i get up I just cannot sleep until 5-6am. It even meant I missed a Drs appointment today :(

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how long it took for Sertraline to kick in as I am unable to go to work due to lack of sleep and anxiety.

Thanks

Hi,

I was on Sertraline 100mg for two years, and although it helped my depression, I had really bad insomnia on it. I persevered but now on Amitriptyline as it helps mood and sleep.

Insomnia can be an initial side effect of SRRI's; I would give it a few weeks and if it's no better, make an appointment with your GP.

Take care.

Thanks for the advice guys x I was taking it in the morning and having trouble sleeping so switched to evening with no change. Just annoying because I am so tired :(
