Not sure what to call them, but we sometimes "know" things that other people wouldn't perceive as true - i.e., "There's a face in the window watching us," "There's a monster in the hall that will attack us if we leave the lights off," "I am a deity," etc.
These things feel true, but they have no real factual basis. Sometimes they feel good (like the ones involving divinity), but sometimes they're very alarming and distressing (like the ones involving faces/eyes in the windows). This is an issue we will be bringing up at our next therapist meeting, but I figure it's worth discussing here as well. Does anyone else deal with these convictions? How do you cope with the negative ones, and keep the positive ones from disrupting your life in negative ways?
