hi i have BPD. and i have what my therapist called Inner children. however i am confused as most people with inner children seem to only have one. i recently read a recovery story from BPD and she had what i am experiencing. however this was described as Fragmented Personalties.

I have 4 'Others', as i call them, each with there own name, which they told me and are different ages. tow years ago the 'others' could take over for long periods of time but i was still conscious and aware on some level. nowadays they many manifest as voices and feelings. although the can take over( but not fully)for a few minuets.

so does anyone know what this phenomenon is? what is it called? and where can i fined some more info one this? dose anyone else experience this as well?

Many Thanks

I would say it is dissociative identity disorder (DID) as you have distinct people who take over at times. I think that is something different from having an inner child which is more like a feeling of vulnerability that people give a name to to make it easier to deal with, but its not really an actual person.

i am sure that i don't have DID, as i am fully aware of them. this is something i have looked into. they are all younger. although one or two act older than they should do. they are separate but they are me. if that makes sense. and yes there was a history of abuse. which i can link tow of the personalties with.

i thought sub personalities could be older than you, but inner children cannot?
