What does this quote mean to you? How would you explain to someone in other words?

I like the quote and I think it is very fitting in some situations but perhaps not all. I'm not sure how I would explain to someone in such limited words. I think mental illness is such a complex thing it's difficult to sum up or explain in ways someone not affected can truly understand.
