Anyone know anything about this?

On my last letter it said I have schizoaffective disorder and possible delusional disorder.
All I know is that it's a type of schizophrenia from a Google search but have never heard of anyone having it.
Also i didn't know you could have 2 types of schizophrenia at same time?

Any info would be good so I can understand it all.
Thanks

Can you ask your CPN/doctor who made that diagnosis? They'd know much more about your treatment.

Delusions are assoc with this disorder so i don't know why they use two words for it. But what do I know.

I know someone with delusional disorder. She has delusions, but no other psychotic symptoms and she functions highly - she works full time, has a long-term relationship, has never been hospitalised etc. She's on medication, but it doesn't work that well for her as far as I can tell. She's been referred to CBT to help.

I don't know if you can have both. I know delusions can be part of schizoaffective disorder, so could they be part of that, if that's what they are?

I would discuss it with your care co-ordinator or psychiatrist.

Thanks guys. I've done some more reading online and I kind of get what it is but like said I don't think you can have both because my delusions can be associated with schizoaffective.

Anyway I'll have to ask my cc because it sounds like a mistake.
I'd rather just have one diagnosis if it explains everything. P

Do you want to talk about what delusions you may be experiencing and how they make you feel? I could maybe tell you what sounds funny or odd. I get them too and we have similar symptoms and diagnosis I think from reading your posts. X

You can pm me if you want but I don't currently believe I have any delusions

Do you know what a delusional disorder is, in order to understand it fully?

I'm just asking, because I dont. Xx

For what I've read it's a schizophrenic spectrum disorder where you just experience delusions and negative symptoms but I think it's a mistake because I have had hallucinations and mood episodes which fits better with schizoaffective disorder.
I'll ask when I see my psych after Christmas because he has got me confused with someone else in the past so it might just be that.
I kind of just wondered if anyone else had it because I hadn't heard of it before.

I spoke to my cc today and she said that you can't have both Schizoaffective and dellutional disorder so she imagins it's a mistake and I'm just SZA. Which is quite a relief because I don't like extra diagnosis. SZA is enough.

Thanks for all the replies though.
