Alright so I'll just spill everything out. I am depressed beyond reason. For months I have done nothing but lay in bed. It's all I have the energy to do. Everytjing hurts. My boyfriend who means the world to me tries so hard to help but this is beyond anything he can help. He does make me feel a lot more comforted but I feel like nothing is enough. No amount of passion can cure this for me right now. I don't even know what caused this for me or why it continues to cut me so deeply. I have lost interest in everything. Everything just hurts more and more each day. I hate waking up. All I want to do is sleep. It's hard for me to even think. Words used to just come to me but now everything is a blur and my head feels empty. It's getting very bad. I'm so idle and alone. Does anyone know any steps I can take to somehow pull myself out of this? Thank you

Hi Forlorn, sorry to hear you're struggling so much at the moment. I'm sure everyone here can empathise with how you're feeling in general.
Personally I'd recommend going to see your doctor and asking to be prescribed a suitable anti-depressant if you haven't already, and if you have perhaps it's worth addressing increasing the dose.
They really can make a difference even when it feels like nothing can make a difference.

i agree with the above post, see your doctor, maybe consider seeing a counselor. there are self help style books you can get but from what your currently describing i am not sure if they would be of much use to you because it sounds like your in quit severe depression and the self help stuff is usually aimed at lower level stuff, that said it may be worth trying.

I'm sorry things are so awful for you at the moment. I can relate so much to what you've written, I've been in similar places before, and it is absolute hell. I want you to know that I think you are so strong just to be surviving when it is this bad, and to want to find ways to pull yourself out of it.
Do you have any professional help or support at the moment? I really do agree that talking to your doctor, or anyone else who's involved, would be a really good idea. Medication and / or therapy can help so much, and make it much easier to do things to help yourself.
Have you found anything that helps, even a little bit? Or is there anything that you have found helpful and enjoyable in the past? When I've been very very low, I've found it helpful to try and set reasonable goals for myself. I'm always telling myself I 'should' be able to function 'normally' but actually when getting out of bed feels impossible, that is just not going to happen. It can help just to take little steps and set tiny goals. Like, if you find that you stay in bed all day, maybe you could start with aiming to just get up and sit in a different room for a short while, or get up and brush your teeth. Whatever feels vaguely manageable. Even meeting small goals can help you feel like you've achieved something, and over time, you can build on them.
I really hope that you start to feel better soon. It will pass, you will feel better again. I know it can be hard to remember that when it's been so bad for a long time, but things always change, it won't stay the same forever. Take care, and let us know how you're doing when you can.

Is there anything in your life that is causing the depression? Antidepressants can be very effective for quite a few who try it, especially if the person taking them is really motivated for recovery.
Also psychological therapies could help too.

Your burned out - suppressed anger imo. What/who upset/disappointed you?

i started antidepressants after three weeks of feeling like this. bf loves me and wanted to help but no amount of what he could do could cure the depression, it was horrible. at this point antidepressants have made it livable (i can go to work, im learning to go to coffee shops and be around people again), but to a certain extent after you adjust to the dosage they give you you have to learn how to live in society again. good luck and i hope you find what you need xx
