If they need restraining then I would phone the police or a mh professional. It's not your job to do so. It's not worth putting yourself in danger no matter what friend they're.

I sometimes nurse my friend when she's unwell. I've never had to restrain her but I have had to call an ambulance if she was acutely unwell physically however if she was mentally unwell that she need restraining for her own safety, I would call the police or ambulance. It's not fair on you to have to do the restraining. It may screw up your friendship? Relationship bond.

If it's in work then I would ask if you could not be in charge of their care.

If it's a work situation- it is not ethical for you to be involved in anyone's care professionally who you know. A girl I used to go to school with came into one of my units once and I wasn't allowed to (nor did I want to) give any direct care to her.
