So tonight they are reducing my dose of Olanzapine gradually to eventually taper off completely.
Has anyone got any experience of coming off Olanzapine? Should I expect any withdrawal symptoms?
Thanks in advance.

when I came off olanzapine I was tapered onto anther anti psychotic, however, what I remember about coming off olanzapine is gradually as it started to leave my system I wasn't sleeping as well or as much, as the olanzapine used to practically knock me out. I also started getting a lot less hungry and wasn't eating as much as night time when I used to get really hungry then.
I don't specifically remember any other withdrawal effects, but it was about 2 years ago that I came off it, however I don't remember it being awful to come off like other meds have been.
Hope coming off it goes ok for you.

I came off of 15mg cold turkey. I didn't get any withdrawal symptoms. I was put on another AP straight away though, so I don't know if that helped? Feel much better for not being on it. It was great for the schiz, but made my body turn to crap.

I was on 2.5mg Olanzipine and just stopped taking it after about 8 months. My sleep wasn't great but I didn't really notice any other withdrawal side effects.

I was tapered from 20mg to 10mg over a few months, then came off cold turkey. This was over 3 years ago though so I can't remember all that much.
Whilst it was being tapered I didn't really notice any withdrawal symptoms. After going cold turkey I had some trouble sleeping for a bit but that was about it I think.
Interestingly, after only a week of being off, my parents found out I'd stopped and had me take it again for one last morning before my psych ok'd me being off it, and the sleepiness was like I'd taken it for the first time all over again. So I don't think it takes very long for olanzapine to get out of the system once you've stopped taking it (not 100% sure though..?)
Hope coming off it goes well for you :)

I came off it cold turkey. I stopped sleeping for a few weeks and had some manic symptoms but no physical withdrawals.
Oh except a reduced appetite but after all the weight I gained on it it was a welcome withdrawals effect.

As others have said - the most common affect is reduced sleep and appetite.

Thank you so much lovelys, you have really reassured me.
I went from 10mg to 7.5mg last night not sure whether they are going to drop it to 5mg tonight or wait a few days.
