hiya, I'm currently experiencing my first manic episode. I can tell you it is both
Brilliant and horrible at the same time but I can't go on much longer, getting no sleep or snippets here and there.
They are sending me to a crisis house for observation and treatment as I have been doing
Weird things like covering my self with staples. I feel like they are holding me together.
I've never had this before and it's a weird feeling. How is mania treated usually?
I'm on aripiprezole and pregabalin if that's any use.
Thanks for looking xx

Generally medication is really helpful especially for a first time epidode.

Are you sleeping if not I find a sleeping tablet really helpful as it makes me sleep which starts to calm me down.

Things like having a routine so making sure you eat and you try and sleep or at the very least rest.

What about doing some mindfulness exercises or relaxation.

Are you spending lots of money? If so can you give your bank card to someone you trust?

Many things can help mania. They may use one approach or many together.

Sleeping pill help to get you back into a good sleep pattern.
Mood stabiliser and anti psychotics can help balance your mood.
Prn meds like benzos can help with excess energy and agitation.
Therapy and psycho education can help you learn coping skills.
Hospitalisation, crisis house or htt can help you stay safe or get extra support.

Hopefully they will find something that help you the best. Good luck.

Thanks both for replying. Yes have spent lots of money, not sleeping, met a man for sex off the Internet!! Can't stop cleaning, I've dug the garden within an inch of its life lol
I'm starting to get flashes of light and a swaying sensation too. Hopefully something will calm it down, I've been like this for about 6 weeks now but it came upon me gradually.

Hiya

I found olanzapine bought me down pretty quickly from the start of a manic episode
The medication that might help may be different for you but I found this was useful alongside diazepam and zopiclone
It's different for everyone though but try to trust your health professionals they'll want to bring you down quite quickly if it's escalated fast
