The doctor wrote that I have Schizoaffective disorder as well as BPD and I was just wondering if they are commom disorders togather, BPD was my first ever diagnosis and I have asked countless times for it to be considered again becuase I feel like I don't fit the decriptions.

I have schizoaffective with bpd traits.
My best friend has full schizoaffective and bpd.
I'm a member of a schizoaffective forum and many people there also have bpd.
I don't think it is massively common but it does make sense that bpd could be diagnosed alongside any illness as bpd often presents with maladaptive coping skills which could be encouraged by other illnesses.
For example, I hear voices that can sometimes tell me to harm myself. This is a schizoaffective symptom for me however the voices can encourage me to think about suicide more therefore making me have "suicidal idealisation" which is a bpd symptom. One can affect the other or can bring on the other.

People with PD often have other psychiatric diagnoses, and schizoaffective is just as likely as any other. There are a lot of overlaps between symptoms of BPD and schizotypal PD, and schizoaffective disorder. They all involve symptoms of psychosis and difficulties with mood, but everyone is different and the other more specific diagnostic criteria will contribute to what you are formally diagnosed with.
