ok guys, what caused you to find out what you was suffering from...

at the moment bad thoughts pop in my head from time to time... at work when the senior managers are having a meeting i automatically think its about me

I always think bad things are going to happen to me.

its effecting my life and I am not sure what it is... but I know something needs to be done....

What caused you guys to get help or to figure out what was wrong?

When it became controlling,

You're not alone in thinking those conversations just too quiet to hear in the office are all about you, or the sudden laughter is at your expense.

Do you tend to feel that whenever you're ill that it's something more serious than it actually turns out to be?

The best thing you can do is speak to your GP, (remember to make a list before you go or you will probably forget everything!).

Mine put a lot of my thoughts down to chronic anxiety and something called "catastrophic thinking", you spend a lot of time on edge. But these things can be worked through in various ways, seeking help is the first step which is normally the hardest.

Don't be afraid that your GP will be unsupportive, I was surprised by how non-judgmental mine was, afterall they're there to help you.

Hope you find what you're looking for,

R

My GP suggested a couple of options; first of all was a referral to a local sort of talking changes service which would provide counselling options and if necessary a further diagnosis which could then, if need be, be medicated.

Anxiety can be controlled with medication if necessary, but those manifestations are normally a symptom rather than a cause. The only real conclusive way to move forward for good is to address the underlying cause of the feelings of anxiety and paranoia.

In conclusion, the best place to start is talking.

Hope that helps

My partner noticed changes in me and took me to the GP. From there they tend to start with an IAPT referal but you can usually refer yourself to IAPT if you're nervous about talking to your gp or if they don't take you seriously.

Initially, I was forced into it as a young teenager. Then, I saw my GP when I realised I was making myself to anxious to leave the house to get to 6th form.

Then, at university, I was semi-forced into it via an ultimatum. But, I alo agreed to help as it was impacting on my education.

Basically, the reasoning behind the times when I decided to get help, was when things became overwhelming, impacting on my education and... Well, I think the biggest factor was when staff in A&E started to recognise me.

Didn't have much of a choice. I was 13, and it was just assumed it was depression. Just staying in the system until 19yo lead to the final diagnoses of BPD and ANbps.
