I think I might have depression or something. I never feel me/happy. I feel really upset like I could cry alot. I don't even want to speak at times x I'm fed up of feeling down all time. Iv even though how simple it would be if I just walked into busy road, or misread the guidelines for pills and 'accidentally' took too much. I'm trying not to go back to self harming/restricting food or binge/purge. It's affecting everything I haven't done college work I'm severely behind I think I'm gonna fail so I'm thinking of dropping out. It's all too much. Does it sound like depression?
Iv been considering going to doctors, what would he/she do/say if I did?

Unfortunately none of us can diagnose you as we don't have the qualifications to do so. However it does sound like the way you are feeling is having a significant effect on the way your functioning and living your life at the moment. I think going to the doctors would be helpful as they are in the best position to be able to work out if it is depression or something else your suffering from.

You might find it helpful to have a read of this (http://www.recoveryourlife.com/index.php?categoryid=116&p2054_articleid=1) article on what happens when I go to the doctors. They will most likely to ask you some questions about the way your feeling, how long you have been feeling this way, your eating and sleeping patterns amongst other things. They will then talk about different options of providing support to you whether that is medication or referring you to someone else like a counsellor or continuing to see you themselves. Going to the doctors can feel pretty scary but it will be okay.

Hello

I must admin I felt the same way as you. I was feeling down all of the time and I wanted to take my life and self harm. I managed to stay away from all of this and talk to a Doctor. I was planning to see my GP, but the appointment time was inconvenient so I saw another Doctor instead.

It took me a year to sum up the courage to see a Doctor, but I am thankful and grateful I finally sought professional help.

From the Doctors appointment I was referred onto CAMHS. I was diagnosed with low moods, being very close to depression. I am now undergoing cognitive therapy, you may receive something similar. This will take a few hour sessions, around a fortnight to a month part. If things do not get better, I'll be seen by a psychologist and medication will be considered.

This is essentially whats happened to me, don't expect the above to be what happens as every condition someone suffers is different to another. Just use it as a guide.

I can't emphasise the importance of seeing a doctor because it will help so much.

If you ever need anything, you can always PM me.

Thanks for replies. Still don't know what to do. What would u do in my situation. I need someone to make the choice before I can decide. Should I drop out of college. It's a uni course, second year and it finishes in June. I'm so far behind in work severely!!!!! And iv not been going to my compulsory placement, another reason which could make me fail the Course. Everyone I asked keeps saying it's ur decision but I don't want it to be cause I don't know what I want o haven't got a clue thinking.bout it makes.me want to cry. What would others do??? What should I do?!!?

Hello again

Like I said, I went to see a Doctor and it really helped. I suggest you do the same because from there you can be referred onto other help professionals that specialise in the help you require.

I'm sorry to hear you're quite a bit behind in college work. If you get an official diagnosis it may be possible to get some extra time on your work and I'm sure your college would understand. Because it's possible that depression can slow down your working speed, you'll have to check with your doctor though. You shouldn't drop out of college now because you're so close to finishing, just give it that final push and you'll be done!

I strongly suggest to go book a Doctors appointment and please don't drop out of college now.

My end of year exam is due in next week. I have 4 paged, the average everyone else done is about 75-90pages no chance catching up.

Like said above I think if you go a Dr and get a diagnosis you will be able to take leave from uni or get extra time on some assignments. That's your best chance I think.
