^ Your explanation of BPD is outdated. The neurosis/psychosis part is what they used to think BPD was but they don't really think that any more. I also think it's damaging to say it's NORMAL AN UNCONTROLLABLE to attempt suicide. IT'S NOT! Yes, some people with BPD will experience suicidal thoughts as part of their illness, but you can't say oh that's normal and to be expected...

Basically BPD means that you have trouble regulating your emotions. You are more susceptible to different things triggering your emotions so you'll more easily get happy, sad, angry, anxious, stressed etc and it will take you longer to get back to baseline than someone without BPD. As part of your illness you may also experience trouble in forming relationships and worry that you'll be left alone so you might try and make the other person stay. Some people with BPD self harm or take drugs as a way of coping with their emotions.

I hope the mood stabiliser helps. A therapy called DBT is the most effective for people with BPD can you ask if you can have it?

hey

sorry to hear you've been through a really rough time. I think Sherlock holmes post explains everything very well, so I don't really have much to add, but just wanted to say your not alone and give you a hug. Also this site is great for support

Just to add a little.
BPD sufferers often have feelings of emptiness. Often chronically. Like, you feel as though you have no emotions.
BPD sufferers are also prone to developing eating disorders. I have BPD as well as Anorexia B/P Subtype.

Oh, I'm also on an antidepressant and an antipsychotic for BPD.
