leg and foot shaking/jerking on aripiprazole

I started aripiprazole 10mg two weeks ago tomorrow and over the last 3/4 days my right leg and foot is uncontrollable shaking, sometimes it will stop for a bit, but most of the time it is shaking. I can not control it, I try to hold it down and wedge it under stuff, but nothing stops it, it is very noticeable and very annoying. I was on aripiprazole last year, but taken off it by a psych in hospital, I don't remember this happening last time. My psych did say it could cause leg movements and random shaking. She said she would probably increase it after a few weeks.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if it went away after a while or continued. It doesn't seem to happen when I am walking, but any other time it can.

I've never taken it but that sounds annoying... perhaps you should ask the doctor to try a different Med?

I have tried 3 other anti psychotics, none of them I want to go back on. Quetiapine caused horrendous nightmares, olanzapine caused me to put on a lot of weight which seriously stressed me out and I'm slowly loosing it and couldn't deal with putting it back on and risperidone caused a bad tremor in my hands, arms and face which made playing my horn nearly impossible.
I know that a lot of other anti psychotic cause weight gain, aripiprazole is weight neutral and I've lost weight on it in the past. I'm just confused as to why it is happening this time and not when I was on it last year.
I'm also on fluoxetine and pregabalin.

I had very similar side effects on aripiprizole and in my case it didn't stop until I was taken off of it.
Perhaps it would be worth talking to your psych about other weight neutral anti psychotics as the jerking and tremors sound very uncomfortable.

As an alternative, she might be able to provide a medication to help reduce the side effects if you are hesitant to switch meds.

ok thank you. I remember when I had a tremor last year from a med they put me on another med to try and stop the tremor, it didn't work, but may work this time. I see my GP tomorrow, shall mention it to her and then when my psych see's me next.
