Hopefully I haven't either put this in the wrong place or missed an obvious answer to this question, but, are we allowed to post (relevant) petitions on here? Obviously so long as they don't just create spam?

For instance, there's a petition calling on The Sun to publish a correction from its misleading headline about mental illness and the number of deaths it claims have been caused by it, the other day & I was wondering if there was somewhere on here that I could post it as I think it's crucial that stigma is broken down & challenged.

This is something the mods would need to approve, and it would probably have to go in to News & Debate, complete with full information regarding the petition itself, and the situation surrounding it, so that people can make an informed choice.

Hum I don't know what the actual answer to this is so ill pr it and talk to the other mods.

That said these are my thoughts:

Firstly a lot of petitions are overtly political and we ban to much political discussion because it can get quite contentious etc.

Secondly we don't allow posts around research and fundraising due to the numbers and if people started posting petitions this could be never ending in part as there are so many petitions available

But I wonder if rather than posting a petition you made a post on the topic and in the post mention the petition without linking to it? This would mean the discussion could be had And people could search for the petition if necessary but it wouldn't have the impact on ryl that it could potentially have as per point 1 and 2.

That sounds like a good idea Cam. I personally struggle with petitions, (due to my own mh problems, not just petitions, but many things) I get scared of giving out my name and address, get paranoid about it and over think it. I then over worry that I'm a bad person if I don't sign it and the over thinking goes on and on. However, having a discussion and then having the choice to search for a petition sounds a better plan, with much less pressure.

I also like Jodie's idea of a set thread for it.
