Alrighties, sorry for making another post on this after my first one, you guys, but I'd gotten my post count to the minimum requirement (5 posts) to change usernames yesterday.

But when I woke up this morning to check if it worked, my name was still the same.

I clicked on the 'request username change' link again just in case and somehow I've been reset back to 3 posts and I needed to get the minimum requirement again for the request to change usernames! > n <

If it helps to know this, I left a tab open with myself logged into this site for sometime because I was trying to think of a username, but when I finally decided on one and clicked on the submit button, I was prompted to re-login (so m'guess I'd been logged out while I was thinking).

I did so, and it told me to the username was processing. That's when I logged back out and just waited. And now back to 'le present, hehe..

Did it even process at all? And does anyone think they know why it possibly could've reset my posts? Does that mean I'll be able to re-sumbit the username request I wanted or am I gonna have'ta wait the 3 months, because that just would be terrible T n T

Thanks in advance again to anybody who answers!

Name changes don't go through til Friday anyway.
If you're worried, it might be best talking to Cam (random.swirls) who is in charge of all that stuff.

Huh, I didn't know that bit, eheh. I can be patient for a few days, I just wasn't sure if my username request processed correctly since I'd been logged out when I tried to submit and had'ta re-login, haha.

If the name doesn't change on Friday, how would I be able to find/contact random.swirls? Unless it's somewhere here on the site and I'm just missing it, aha.

I don't know if it's gone through, but they do take a little time.

Its amazing people only need 5 posts to change a username. No reflection on yoo Gnarls its just a bad idea forum wise

Your user name change request isn't showing up on your profile (mods can see it usually) so I would re-submit the request. Chances are you were logged out before it went through.

not really a bad idea Jack.. sometimes people make a username of 'OMGBLOODANDRAZORS' and then they actually spend some time on the forum and realise that its not quite as dramatic as all that and change it to something more about them than their self harm.

Mods can see in peoples profiles a history of their usernames, also, their is/used to be a policy where you could only have your username changed every 3 months or something.

Yes I know sometimes a change is wise and warranted but thats a rare case compared to whats happened. I see people with 4 and 5 names under "You May Also Know Me As". Usernames are part of a forums identity. It just makes things chaotic to have people changing user names all the time and making it impossible to keep track of who is who.

Sometimes you learn a persons story, issues etc and you have a record of replies with them and know how they are doing (or not doing). Then they vanish and you don't know what happened. Then you find out they changed usernames and you've been making answers to another "person" who was really the first person you replied to but didn't know it because their name was changed lol.

There are forums that don't allow username changes under any circumstances just because of the chaos that arises. Of course in a forum like this where some people have to hide things from prying eyes you expect to make changes but when changes become merely a matter of "mood" and changes for change sake it becomes like a big shell game of guessing who is who with so many changes.

Shyeah, my reason to want to change is because I made this account in 2011 and never got to use 'till recently. I use this same username on various large sites now and don't really want people to know even that slight mention of a side of me that I'm not proud of I put here a long time ago, y'know?

Nicely put, I agree, man. Hopefully this'll be the only time I'll need to change in my case, eheh.

Hmmm, all righties. I'll try again right now, thank you for letting me know!
Would I have'ta wait 'till next Friday to see any changes? In my case, it's "the-sooner-the-better' but I understand if I missed this weeks window of opportunity :c
