Did you notice the latest announcement (the one about jpgs of guns?) before you saw this thread?

I did and I think the announcement function is really nifty, but I am genuinely curious as to how many people notice announcements and if it might be an idea to also post announcements in general chat?

I'm aware this is quite a boring thread. Humour my curiosity :P

Was there a problem with pictures of guns to start with? I don't think i've seen pictures of guns on RYL...

I did notice the announcement before this thread. In relation to what Mike said, I thought the announcement about guns was a bit out of the blue. I hadn't noticed a problem with people posting guns but, then again, I'm pretty unobservant.

There were and have been some pictures of guns but we had a very lengthy discussion about what was appropriate on RYL. Especially since the pictures werent obtained illegally or anything like that so by the time the decision was made it was quite a while since the picture cropped up which is why it seems like it is out of the blue.

I dont like the announcement thing because I can never find them and it doesnt show up in peoples posts so I cant follow that to it.

I hardly ever notice announcements, and didn't this time either. It's because I generally skip down to the threads since it's normally just the stickies.

I knew about the announcement but it was a coincidence that I clicked it (cause my mouse didn't want to do what I wanted to do).
That was the first announcement that I read to be honest, cause usually I just don't see them.

I notice them when I notice them, don't know what proportion I do notice though.

I am thinking most of them because when I do see them I go how long has that been there and I've not seen it and then look at the date and its usually within a few days.

I always seem to notice them too.

But I noticed a few gun pictures a while ago and I did wonder what the RYL policy (is that right word?) was on guns.

I like this decision anyway to ban gun photos.

I didn't see it but well done on the new rule I did notice a few gun posts and they dis make me quite uncomfortable and I for one am glad of the new rule

it's not so much a new rule, as a clarification that guns fall under the an existing rule - the one that bans images of tools for self harm.

I feel rather special and observant now.
I always notice the announcements! :) But I realised by the view count that not many people do.
I also noticed quite a few pictures of guns that were posted.
