i have noticed that when i have gone on chat most of the people on there are pretty young, its really difficult to have a serious conversation... so i guess i think it would be nice if there was a chat room for the "veterans corner"
my other thought was when i am in chat... its hard to open up to everyone all at once, i am a member of another website kinda like RYL and they have a private chat where you can just chat with one member, it makes it a lot easier to open up and get support and trust... just a few thoughts thanks for reading :)

Yeah not enough vets used chat and it just ggot flooded with other youngsters who wanted to talk in a quieter room, 'vets' used to be recovered harmers as well as older members, i've been a vets corner frequenter since i was 16.

Hi,

I think you will find that a lot of chat isnt necessarily young, its just the nature of chat that a lot of people want to be non serious. We used to have a vets room, I believe it had a password and it caused all manner of issues.

We also have a private messaging feature, just click on the members avatar and it will say 'whisper'. x

just having a convo with someone through private messages on here, and it takes so long to get and respond to messages, but they dont feel comfortable being on normal chat cause people can read what they are saying... makes it difficult to be serious.
even in the "serious" chat room, people weren't having a serious conversation... it was just a place to get away with friends. i guess i just want somewhere that when i need it i know i can talk....

Gone.

If people aren't being serious in Room 4, you need to say something. Usually, the conversation lightens if people don't appear to need support but if you speak up, hopefully you'll get a response. If the conversation won't turn more serious, you can always message a chat moderator.

Not true, when youre private messaging in chat no one can see it.

If you are in room 4 an you see general chat you need to save it and send it in the moderators and we will deal with it as its rule breaking.

just realized where there might be confusion here: there is private messaging on the main site, which is like email. a different thing is private messaging in chat, which is like IMing, but through the sites chat thing. you click on a person's name at the side, and then choose whisper (which will show what they say on the main chat feed on your screen, but it isn't showed to anyone else) or click private chat, which will open a new tab for the conversation and no one else will see it. personally i find that easier to keep track of, cause i don't have to remember to click whisper each time. those move just as quickly as the regular chat, so it is easy to have a conversation.

Also, chat tends to change hugely throughout the day/week as different people from different timezones come and go and stuff, so just because it wasn't the right place for you the other night, doesn't mean it won't be another night. The atmosphere is really dependent on who's in there.
