i had an idea to deal with the spammers
maybe we could not allow links in posts until there person gets to 15 or more posts
I know it would be annoying not been able to post things but its better than getting all this spam

I belong to a computer forum that had to put its "Hot Deals" section to a 50 post limit for newbs

Just don't allow new members to do it. When they get upgraded to regular members through the process which we don't list about (not hard for genuine users)

I think that's a better idea.

Like andy said, the wheel does not need to be reinvented. We already have an auto-confirmed user group.
