Has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of threads being posted in GC, when they really should be being posted in GSA?

I don't know if this is just me, or if there is really anything that can be done, just wanting to see if anyone has any opinions. If something could be done, it could probably help out the mods a bit who have to read the post reports and subsequently move the thread if necessary.

I have noticed this...

I'm not too sure there is really much that can be done though, people need to read things before posting haha.

I feel like when Serious was having problems it helped that the "rules" thread got bumped... maybe that's an idea?

I've been noticing it ALOT recently!

I think even if the rules got bumped, people aren't going to go and read them because they will still be going into GC to post threads that belong elsewhere. A reminder in some way while be useful (but thay probably won't be seen my newer members/members who join after the reminder).

i think its probably down to people not reading the descriptions properly, its kind of annoying.x

I agree it's annoying. It's irritating reporting it, never mind dealing with it! Do people think bumping or making the rules more prominent would help? Or perhaps tweaking the forum descriptions a bit?

Personally no. People aren't reading the descriptions as it is, so I doubt they'd even notice the change!

I definatly agree with bumping up the rules cos i have noticed it too.. Saying that i think it mostly newbies who post in the wrong bit..

Dropping in to share my frustration and concern!
I tend to report threads, but not do anything else. Mods, would you advise people to post in such threads and tell new members politely that they may get more replies in a different board, or to just sit back and wait for the thread to be moved?

I would just sit back and wait for it to be moved :] x

It seems to be new members from what i have seen, but you cant make people read the rules or descriptions.

i think it has to do with the fact that the general forums come before the support forums, i guess members join and are feeling desperate, and post in the first section that they see.

It would help if people would read the descriptions.

(side note.. ive always found it odd that the general forums come before the support forums on a support site.)

If it's a new member that's done it (i.e joined in the last 1 - 3 days) then I report it and pop a little comment saying "I see your new, there are forum descriptions etc also have a read over the rules" kind of thing, because they could have joined when they were desperate and posted straight away so didn't think to read anything. But if they have been a member for more than a few days then I just report and leave it.

Has anyone noticed that half the crap posted in GC belongs in another forum, period? If Fun and Distractions were used for more than just surveys it might actually get the threads it's owed.

Between the spam and threads that belong in GSA, N&D, R&R, and especially F&D, what else is there in GC?

It's not just new members who are guilty of not knowing forum descriptions. (That or older members insist on misplacing threads so they get more exposure).

^ I agree, although if you post something in F&D it's likely to get drowned out by all the other stuff. I do think that general spamming threads should go in there though.
