I have been on prozac for a month, for the last two weeks ive become incredibly manic, actually psychotic at times. I feel amazing though.
I have been previously diagnosed with bpd but it has been suggested that i have reacted this way to the antidepressant because i may have bipolar, which actually makes more sense to me.
Does anyone else have this situation? They have taken me off the prozac but im scared of becoming depressed.

you can get manic and psycotic with bpd, i do. and the side effects of some antidepressants can include these symptoms...but not all. it might be worth trying other meds if you need.

You say you have come of the Prozac - have you sought out professional advice which led to you stopping the medication?
I think it would be a good idea to discuss your situation and diagnosis with the prescriber as it may be that they can provide insight into where they have formulated your diagnosis from and if the reaction to the Prozac still fits.

Anti-depressants actually induce manic episodes, people with bpd arent supposed to be put on anti-depressants alone becuse it can cause an imbalance, ( Im studying mental health nursing, that why i know this)

When I went on Prozac as a teen I was manic for the first couple of weeks and then it just - stopped. Went back to depression, didn't notice a difference from the meds.
But yeah... I've heard of others being really manic on Prozac too, not entirely sure why though.

Mania is a known side-effect of ADs. I have always been advised to let someone close to me know when any changes in my ADs take place, so that they can keep an eye on me. I have also always been advised to let the prescriber know should such effect happen (it hasn't for me, thankfully).
It sounds like you have done the right thing and let them know. I hope you can seek a medication review soon in order to find a better balance for you.

I've had three manic episodes on antidepressants because they kept prescribing them to me ... it is a side effect, especially if you are a bipolar. I don't really know about bpd.
Having to be hospitalized because of a med I didn't want to take in the first place? Not cool
