For someone to be an alcoholic or have an alcohol problem do they need to be dependent on it. Like to they need to need it?...
In the past 8 days ive drank over 4 of them. My mum died of alcoholism and I think my dad struggled abit (Im adopted these are my real family im talking about) and everyone in the family seems to drink quite abit.
I was brought up normally I started drinking when I was 15... and in Liverpool thats kinda an old age to start drinking...
My first drink was vodka.
So my brother keeps telling me im going to end up having a problem with alcohol (real brother) even though he drinks alot he says that its okay for him cos he just drinks beer and I drink... practically anything with a high percentage on it.
Id like some opinions do people think I might end up with or have an alcohol problem and is alcohol sort of genetic....

there is a genetic tendancy but that doesn't mean you will become an alcoholic - it also depends on why you drink? is it an escape? if so, better to get some help & develop healthier ways of dealing with stress and problems...

Alcoholism can be quite environmental, so if you were brought up away from your real family you wouldn't have had the same influences as someone who had. Of course, there can be factors which make you more prone to be susceptible to a drinking problem which are hereditary.
