Anyone taken 5htp?

I just started taking this today (part of my natural supplements treatment for depression) and I just wanted to see if it had done well for other people.

Plus, I've heard some better things about SAMe but also heard that if you have anxiety the 5htp is better and the SAMe can make it worse..

I plan on trying the 5htp for a few weeks and then maybe trying to SAMe (if I can get to Foodworks again soon e_o) for another few weeks... but I still wanna know how it worked/been working for others.

I think the 5htp helps increase serotonin somehow, or something. Anyway that's what my brother said. He said it helps stops migraines, because most migraines are associated with low serotonin. It's helped both my mum and brother with their migraines. Sorry useful info but thought I would say something.

I took it for a while, when I was being told I would "grow out" of my depression and nobody would help me, and I was so depressed I couldn't get out of bed in the morning.... but yeah, it's definitely not a substitute for real medication if you need it, but it can help take the edge off the intensity of your emotions as a temporary measure.

Same, really. Took it and it mildly helped but I felt quite sick off it and didnt take it that long. Thought it was worth a try though.

Cool, i didnt know that - Although propranolol is working for my migraines at the minute.

husband tried it.. not real sure how much it helped with his depression cuz he took citalopram at same time but we have a friend that swears by it.
