My sister used to be on it. Helped her, yet she was on literally seven other psych meds. Do you know what it was prsecribed for? Guessing it should help considering you were prescribed it.

I'm on them now. Personally, they make me feel numb but they can effect everyone differently. I hope they're beneficial.

I am on 20mg now, I have been on 30 and 40mg's too but coming back off them now.
At first they made me feel sick but thats just getting into your system so try and stick with them for a while.
Personally, they have really helped me with my depression, and at a higher dose they have helped with my anixety, however that is creeping back now ive lowered my dose. But overall I have found them very beneficial.
Have you been offered any therapy too? x

Hey there, I was on citalopram 40mg for a while. Personally, they didn't help me but medication works differently for different people. For instance, HappyDays above said that it did work for them. I hope they do work for you though, and I'm around if you need to talk

Citalopram has helped me so much.
It makes everything seem so much better, so much easier.
I know it works differently for everyone (two of my friends are on it, and neither have had such positive experiences) but for me it really has turned my life around.
And I didn't really realise just how much it was helping til I tried to come off it recently (whoops!) ... anyway. Good luck, I hope it helps. You might get some side-effects over the next few weeks (I was really tired), but they should pass soon enough. :)

for me, it was horrid....really really horrid and the withdrawal sucked bad.
but I know people who swear by it, each drug is a different thing for each person. Try it, but keep an eye on the effects. if it works, then awesome :-)

Yes, I was on it, I found it okay, however, after 1 and a half it stopped having any effect on me and found it quite pointless. But as everyone has said, it differs for everyone.

I started on 10, was upped to 20, and most recently upped again to 40. I've found them to be a real help with intrusive thoughts, triggers, and social anxiety.

With me, it was horrid. It really interfered with my breathing, I could hardly breathe and at one point, climbing stairs was nearly impossible. Did nothing for my depression. I was in the psych unit and the dining area was on the ground floor and each time I left the ward I had to use the lift. So the nurses took me off pretty darn quick.
But like someone else said: for others it has been a wonder drug, so dont let my experience put you off.

I'm on 40mg and it's helping with the suicidal thoughts, but I am very apathetic on them.

I started on 10, went to 20, and am now on 40mg a day. It's helped a little with the suicidal thoughts, but it makes my apathy a lot worse, and I have gotten some fierce vertigo from it.
