I think I may have previosuly spoken to you about huntercombe?

They tend to keep you there longer than other places (or so I have heard) but they must be doing so for a reason. Could you talk to staff to find out what your treatment plan is and how best you can work with them to achieve this and move forward?

They were quite good at explaining this to me but did have to be specifically asked.

If you have questions feel free to pm me. Take care <3

I think a lot of specialist hospitals keep patients in longer than general acute wards as they are more likely to be able to give you the treatment you need. x

I've been in a Huntercombe hospital - it was an adolescent assessment unit. The admissions where I was were generally kept short, as you were being... assessed! 6 weeks was pretty much the minimum & then however long you needed after that. I know that the patients on the eating disorder unit & intensive care unit (psychiatric) could have quite lengthy stays...

Have you spoken to your care team about when your discharge date might be, or what the aims of your stay there are?

Hi.i have not been to Huntercoombe so im sorry but i have no useful information for you.im just wondering if you are finding it useful or not or if you just want to get out?And what you think the reasons might be for either answer and if perhaps you can talk to the staff about what you think might help most right now and where to go from here?Or perhaps write a letter for them if you think that that may be easier?

im sorry for the useless reply.i know it is probably no help!My mind is all over the place right now and i just wanted to let you know i read and am thinking of you and hope that you can find your way through this time.

xx xx

I've been to the adolescent secure unit in Huntercombe Maidenhead, but I only stayed there two weeks as I was in another secure unit on the NHS for two weeks before that, and my section ended while I was in Huntercombe, but I was better so they had no legal reason to keep me there.

I didn't really like the ward. No outside air at all for the whole stay and (can someone please tell me why) two nurses had to go with a patient each time they wanted to go to the bathroom! They actually had to stand next to you. So humiliating.

Was that Severn or Thames? I was in Severn for 3months was Dr Dan your consultant? Yeah I remember having no privacy and having two staff in the toilet but I wasn't arms length so they stood near the door and didn't stare. I've decided Huntercombes a hospital which is hard to get discharged from.

That was Severn Ward. Dr Clapham was my conusltant at the time. It was back in 2006 when I was there. It was really horrid having no privacy, I agree. I was at arms length obs because I attacked a doctor on the NHS ward I was on before I got sent to Huntercombe. What ward are you on right now?

Tamar the open unit. Yeah it's crap being on arms length I was on 2:1 arms length once even in shower and on toilet =(. Then again Huntercombes alright I went to a medium secure unit which was terribly secure and looked like a prison so in comparison huntercombes okay , you been to any other hospitals?

What's the open unit like? I've been on 2:1 in an NHS secure unit for trying to strangle someone =/. I'm sorry that you had to go to a medium secure unit, that's not nice at all. I've been to Springfield (London), Tolworth Hospital (Surrey), Huntercombe (Maidenhead), Fulborn Hospital (Cambridge) and Sutton Hospital (Surrey). What about you? Springfield is the one I've been to loads of times in the open ward, but Tolworth is where I end up if I have to go to the secure unit.

Hey again this is going to sound like an odd question but is Dr Dan the younigish one, and quite tall? Can't place him in my mind and it is really beginning to bug me.

And yeh I agree that having no privacy was awful and keeping up one sided conversations through the door is amusing. How are you finding Tamar? Are you enjoying the freedom a little more in there? The gardens are lovely to spend time in.

Again I reiterate(sp) that asking your key worker or consultant what your plan for discharge is would probably be helpful so that you could see what their long term plan is. (sorry that is phrased very poorly.)

Hello, I completely understand . I was in Huntercombe hospital Maidenhead for 5 months. As soon as i got there I was on section 5:4 and was on 2:1 arm support for 3 weeks even on the toilet, luckily they let me wipe my ass alone! , I was then rewarded with 1:1 arm distance, which didn't really make a difference. It was the privacy I was aiming for, I started to get well and was then put on 1:1 , I then gained 1:1 privacy and then lost my privacy a week later, I then gained privacy then 2 weeks letter i was on 5 minute observations and 2 months later i was finally on level 2 15 minute obs. I then was really well, but never was told or planned a discharge meeting. 3 months after my stay i was put back on 1:1 no privacy and got privacy a month later, then went onto 5 minute obs and was then on level 2 for a hole month with no insidence. I was then discharged. Thank god! I then started to live my life. That's where my life began and i realised what i had when it all got taking away from me. It was the no smoking that was the killer. I'm sure you can imagine the first thing i did when i got local leave and home leave. I do not recommend smoking in anyway shape or form though. Look, You are going to be fine. Just speak to your dr in charge about discharge plans and just tell him/her when you think you might be ready, not to sure where you are at, but mine was dr dan and then dr helen. Good luck hun. If you need anymore advice you can contact me on mia.babes.x@hotmail.co.uk Good luck and i wish you all the best. You'll be fine, i promise <3

I think it was in relation to it being an old thread, though not sure it was neccessary for it to be said in such a rude way. :/

I meant that this was a zombie thread. I don't think I said it in a rude way at all.
