It's been over 24hrs since i last had my tablets, olanzapine, got some now so i'm going to take em in a mo. I take em to level out my mood and since i've been on em (2008) they've helped greatly but around 9pm my mood has nose dived and i feel numb and really weird, have the sinky chest feeling, all the kinds of feelings i used to get before i started them. Would that be due to missing my 2 doses? How long do they stay in the system? couldn't find the answer online on wiki. i know it's a silly question but some of you guys know a lot about meds so i thought i'd just ask if anybody knew? Anybody had similar experiences?

Thankyou

Have you tried NHS direct? They can advise you on what to do and if it is because of something else they could get an out of hours doctor to ring. x

Thnaks for reply

Well i've taken tonights now, i had run out, hence why i missed 2 doses. I am just curious more than anything, because i think my psych is going to take me off them when i see him at the end of the month, i see him yearly, and since it's stabilized he's likely to take me off them, he mentioned it last year. I'm curious if my mood sank because of missing them, i hope my mood won't go backwards once i do eventually stop taking them all together. Rambling a bit now, sorry. It's not urgent enough to warrant nhs direct, theyre busy enough as it is, just wanted peoples experiences or knowledge. Sorry again, i know none of you are doctors

It will most probably be the withdrawal effect of having missed the doses. I do not know that much about this specific med (Oly may be able to tell you more, perhaps) but I do know that in a lot of psych meds, missed doses can mimic the symptoms they were originally intended for.

When you do eventually come of the meds, you will probably reduce the dose more gradually, so that withdrawal will be less. Your Dr will also probably advise that you let someone around you know you are coming of the med, so that they can help you to ascertain any changes in mood that should be reported to your Psych.

Be gentle with yourself. I hope you are feeling better now?

Thanks. Feelin' much better than i did, just got lots of self harm urges atm, but my mood is okay. I see psych in a few weeks. Asked my psychologist but she didnt know too much about medicine, she said if he did suggest coming off it he would do it slowly and gradual. Been on some kind of psych med for 10 years, non stop, so i've never been without something in 10 years so i am interested to see what i'm like, but scared at the same time. Thanks
