I have been depressed for weeks now, and my friends noticed it and they asked if I could go and see the school counsellor. Thing is, I don't know what to say to her. I'm not that type of person that starts a conversation with strangers easily. Just wondering if anyone has been to a counsellor and wants to tell me how it's like. Kind of nervous. :ermm:

Hello, the school counselor sounds like a good idea to me. Don't worry babout starting conversations, you can get to know the counselor and to start with they will ask you questions about yourself and what problems you're having at the moment, as you continue you may feel more able to bring up conversation topics yourself.

you can write down main things to help you if you get stuck. and then if you get really stuck you can give the councelor the paper.

Writing your thoughts down sounds like a good idea to me if you feel uncomfortable talking.
How long it lasts depends on him/her, what you say, what they say etc.
It could last 15mins, it could last an hour - it just depends.
Hope your appointment goes well, you have good friends it's nice to see they're looking out for you.

In my experience any counselling or therapy session lasts 50 minutes, if it's an assessment it might go over.

As well as the great advice others have added, you could ask a close friend to go with you and remind you of what you've been feeling and how you've been acting.
