i think i may have bipolar disorder and would like to seek help, but i don't want my parents to know. What is the age in the UK where you can go to a doctor and they cant legally tell your parents?

Any age really, as long as whoever you see doesn't see you as a threat to yourself or anyone else.
Well done for wanting to get help.

First port of call is usually GP, and he can refer you to your local cmht if its needed to help diagnose and assess you.
Like becky said any age really as long as you're not a threat to yourself or others.
Patch.

In Scotland you are garanteed medical confidentiality when you are 16. If you are under 16 and understand your treatement etc you are also garanteed confidentiality. I think in England it's similar?
As the lovely people above me have already said the first step is your GP, who will probably refer you to the psychological/psychiatric services. This is what happened when I went. I was refered to the psychiatric services. Good luck, and well done for realising you need help. x

as long as you are no danger to yourself or others and are over 16 then its between you and your doctors.

Thanks, but on reflection I don't think there is anything particularly wrong with me
