Ok, so here's the deal. I went to see my counsellor today, and she says I'm being referred to another doctor because 'I'm putting myself at risk'. I told her I've been feeling suicidal of late, but I'm sick of being passed from doctor to doctor. I don't know what's going to happen now. Apparently I'm going to be 'assessed'. Does anybody know what the hell this means?? :/
Maybe she's passing you onto a psychologist or psychiatrist rather than a counsellor?
The way I've seen so far is it's like a chain of command and you move up it when one link can't provide a support that is in-depth enough.
So for example:
Psychiatrist
^
Psychologist
^
Counsellor
^
GP
There might be more layers, but from what I've experienced so far, that seems to be the general layout of this chain.
Hope that helps somewhat, but you shouldn't worry about it.
They'll ask some basic questions and probably ask you back again when they can give you even more help after their initial assessment. :)

Hey Missus.
first *big cuddles* Hope your feeling a little better.
Being assessed usually means as the above said, you will be seen by another professional, they will either be assessing you to see what they need to do to meet your needs, like to see if there service would support you, and if not, what other services would help you.
If that makes sense?
Take care, lovely

Thanks:) Now I think about it, your 'chain' makes sense. I went to my GP first, then this, then...I dunno yet:/ Somehow they find it fitting to keep me in the dark about it all...
It sounds like they're talking about a risk assessment which will be a series of questions about self harm / suicide etc. to determine how much of a risk you are to yourself at the moment, and what they can do to best support you.
