Did they not give you a list to choose from?
Have you tried the NHS Choices website? I don't know if it will have that type of info.
NHS consultants will sometimes have a private practice so you might be able to find some via private clinics who still do NHS work.

Your best bet would probably be to look at the Early Intervention teams consultants as they specifically deal with psychosis and would thus deal with on an everyday basis but also want to work with people suffering from psychosis.

There's an EIP service based out of Miranda House in Hull. If you google humber mental health then it'll come up with the home page. It might be a bit far for you to travel, though. I don't know where you are. I think the best thing for you to do is to speak to your referring doctor, cause they'll be able to offer you impartial, practical advice.

Miranda house aren't worth wasting your time on. They messed me around for two years. Never got see the early intervention team (Psypher) in the end, yet when I moved back to Cambridgeshire I was miraculously seen within two weeks by Cameo (go figure). My current CPN is so shocked at the failings at Miranda house she's currently compiling a formal complaint, their failings include putting me on incorrect dosages, not checking up on me, consistently failing to turn up to appointments/constantly cancelling them, failure to maintain accurate records (they've left huge gaps on my medical records they'd even failed to record what medications I was being prescribed).
And when I did get appointments there, they were 15 minutes long and simply consisted of filling in a questionnaire then being sent home. They were truly dreadful. If I was back in Hull now I'd sooner get the train to Leeds or Sheffield than be seen by Miranda House again :/

Really? I'm sorry they were so **** with you. I've never seen the EIP team there, but whenever I've had contact with any of the teams there they've been pretty good.
Anyways, sorry I'm not more helpful.

Ahh the joys of Miranda House... i had to have an assessment by them when i was 17 and they were okay for that but when i had to see the crisis team after an od once.. i wasn't so keen just felt like they weren't helping me and was treating me like crap a little. I got asked to come with the guy who was going to assess me and i didn, though i was quite depressed so just like walking to were the room was was hard for me then when i have sat down i get ' Do you want to do this?' you have pretty much said i had no choice or not alot eventhough he said ' you have a choice lauren' In the end i decided to go through with it as i cba at the time, really sorry for taking over this thread a little, needed to rant
Though i feel Miranda house might be a bit far away though it depends were you are.

It depends where in North Yorkshire you are looking. As Cam said, Early Intervention teams are a good bet, but where I live (Harrogate) I have no idea whether EITs have specific psychiatrists, or whether everyone, from any team, just goes and sees one of the psychs. in the hospital outpatients dept. (Worth asking xbeckyx).
Can't be of much help but can tell you the names of a few of the Harrogate District psychs via PM if you like, not that I know their specialties., except one, and it's not psychosis.
If you're looking in the Harrogate/York/Northallerton area this site (http://www.nyycmhs.nhs.uk/LocalServices/MentalHealth/WorkingAgeAdult.htm) may or may not be of some use.
It's worth remembering that most Adult Services consultant psychiatrists will be used to dealing with psychosis and psychotic illnesses since they account for a fair few secondary/tertiary services referrals - so any psych. worth their salt should know what they're doing.
May I ask how come you get to choose your psych?
