i might be being really silly but what exactly is it? is it a chat thing or where you submit questions and who actually runs it?

There are a group or members who volunteer their time. It is used to help navigate around the site, or [and mainly] as a form of emergency support for members. There are real people, not just computers and they offer a listening ear and someone to talk to =)

They are also really really wonderful people I would like to add.
If you have any problems you can talk to them, it works in real time like you would use MSN. They really are wonderful.
