Triggering (SI/Abuse) - The Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Discussion and Support Thread

I don't know if one of these has already been made, but if one has, here's another one :P

All sorts of people are affected by this disorder, and I thought it would be nice to have a place to discuss the problems faced because of it.

Everyone's welcome, just, you know, chat away.

Love you all :)

struggling with things. after a particularly bad nightmare last night i have been struggling in my flat. every noise and shadow makes me jump, feel sick and my heart starts thumping. i also can't let people into my flat and get very distressed at the thought of having to do so. don't quite know what to do :(

do you have anything that can make you feel safer? like, make sure all the doors are locked, turn on the lights, and put on some music and cook?

hope you feel better sweetie *huggles*

When you feel your life aint worth living
Youve got to stand up and
Take a look around you

then a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreaming boy, cause when you stop dreamin its time to die.

Got told I have PTSD today.
Bit stunned and relieved all at the same time.

I have PTSD but I am in control atm. Which is really good compared to how I was a month ago :)
Still have serious sleep issues and I get Auditory Hallucinations in the sound of fire but everything else seems to have calmed down!

Hey guys :)

Where do you turn when the night turns to singing
such sweet melodies and you flash your fin
then it's back to the depths where I cannot see you

does anyone else have almost constant "auditory flashbacks"?
that's the best way I can think of explaining it... basically I hear them laughing... and it's not far off being constant... as in it's markable noticeable when it's not there...

mainly just get pictures, when i close my eyes
but if i hear something that I associate with *them* then it's far worse than if I see something triggering

I hear them almost constantly... and sometimes I can feel them, especially on my legs... the visual ones are far rarer for me

have you ever not been able to move your arms or legs? once or twice i physically have not been able to lift my arms, and i get really bad pins and needles as well. it scared me so much the first time it happened but luckily it isnt a regular thing

I've only had a couple of times when I was unable to move, each time after particularly bad flashbacks... like the full on ones when it's all actually happening again... don't like them...

never gone on for long enough to get pins and needles though... that sounds scary, like REALLY scary...
