My toenail is falling off

Back in November I dropped a plate on my toe and it had blood all under it, it bruised my toe, and put a crack in the nail. Now that it's grown out some the whole nail isn't black from blood it's just on the left side and abotu a third of the nail looks fine. The nail has started to come off on the black part but it wont come off on the other third. It hurts when it moves up.
Do I go to the doctor? Pull it off? Ugh jkgbkjadsfga.kj

Sometimes, you have to try more than once.

Alice came to a fork in the road
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "It doesn't matter."

You are best leaving it alone and going to see your GP seen as you did this back in November, be careful not to knock it or catch it on anything.

Now we all have a great need for acceptance, but you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own, even though others may think them odd or unpopular, even though the herd may go.

pathetic

That is a perfectly normal part of the healing process, but since 1/2 of the toenail is still healthy you will need a doctors advice on how best to deal with it. Until you are able to see your doctor keep it clean and dry. Try and wear socks all the time when you are walking around so that the nail doesn't catch on anything, or keep a bandage around it instead.

Well it breaks my heart to see you this way,
The beauty in life, where's it gone?
And somebody told me you were doing okay,
Somehow I guess they were wrong.

Just to add, that it take 18 months for a toe nail to grow from the bottom to the top. So this may take time to heal. Do not pull it off though, it can affect its abilty to grow back.
Take care

Something similar happened to me playing football in badly fitting boots. I just let mine grow out. Kept a plaster on them to avoid snagging the loose bit of nail. Long soaks in a hot bath helped when it was getting ready to come off.

Last cut: 13th June 2007

I dropped like a 2 ton wooden board on my big toe when i was a kid. One of the corners landed squarely in the middle of the nail and I ended up in hospital getting a hole drilled in the nail to relieve the pressure of the blood. It took ages but it dropped off and a new nail grew back. Can't really remember much more than that about it now, though knowing me as a kid, I bet my poor parents went through hell trying to get me to stop poking at it or something.
