Medication Question - Rash from taking Lamotrigine?
ive been put on lamotrigine as a mood stabiliser a little while ago and its gradually being increased. Currently im on 100mg since tues and ive noticed ive got a bit of a rash on my face and stomach. I know tht my gp keeps asking if i have a rash and until now i didnt. Wat exactly does it mean and why do they keep asking? is it serious?
xx
dani please go see a doctor.
by the sounds of it it could be a reaction to the med.
if it gets worse before you can see a doctor go to a and e.
if you find it hard to breath, have a rash all over that is itcy, if you swell up then please phone 999.

Is the rash warm to touch? Does it fade ifyou push a glass over it?
Does your mouth, eyes or lady bits feel sore at all?
Do you or have you had atemperature?
How long have you been on the medication?
Any breathing difficulties?
Edit: Im guessing you have gone offline now, however, I would advise you to ring your doctors first thing in the morning and see if you can get an appoitment for the same day. Its possibe that the rash is not related to the medication, but you need to get checked out to make sure.

omg im worried now.. its a rash on my face around my eyes and around by my ears and a little on my neck, kinda like mini teenage spots - for all i know, it could just be that. Its not majorly obvious and i dnt have a temperature, its not sore tho a bit itchy.. idk, i dnt wanna bother my gp if its just bad skin or something..?
dani you need to go see your gp.
i dont think it is bad skin.

dani if you ring your doctor, they can pass a messaon for you an the doc can rin you back, then you can disscusses if you ned an appointment or not. its better safe than sorry
Call your doctor! At the rate that it's spreading you could end up in hospital soon. The rash isn't something to be fooled with, it doesn't go away if you leave it either.
I'm on lamotrigine, and my doctor instructed me to stop taking it if I noticed a rash developing. Without even calling him - that should say something, doctors don't normally advise patients to completely stop taking their medications (on their own none the less).
Really, don't wait for it to go away. I don't think it's skin problem now, as it's spreading rather quickly.
