Halloween in Sleepy Hollow

It's that time of year again - Jack O'Lantern Blaze time where 5000 pumpkins get lit up on a local manor dating back to 1600's. The pumpkins are used to make sculptures of animals, dinosaurs, skellies etc They get about 80,000 visitors (at night - its dark too because its away from town) in about a month. Since I live next to Sleepy Hollow (the real one) there are a lot of Halloween events taking place, and the area has passed Salem as top attraction for season. Not sure if that's good or bad but there is a lot to do.
I made a little clip of things I saw last night. There are some pics too but not all mine. The video give better impression that stills:

Oh they cheat quite a bit. They use real pumpkins as well 'art pumpkins" that are wax (still hand carved but they can be reused every year lol). They also use mostly electric lights because of fire hazard. Its so dark and there are so many pumpkins (more than pics indicate) that I am sure someone would set themselves on fire.

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.

The best thing is the site. It was a Hessian hospital during 1770s and their names and graff are still carved in the mantel. Its always been a kind of gently eerie place in a child friendly kind of way. Little kids never get scared but they do squeal a lot

There is more to do every year. I am going to Horseman's Hollow in a few weeks. That tries to be a bit more scary but not too gory. Fifty miles away is a haunted hayride that takes 3 hours. That's actually been voted best Halloween event in the country. Its more on the gory and macabre side though. I'm trying to decide if I want to travel 100 miles round trip to see it. Even if its good that kind of event draws some strange agents for audience. People who really love Chainsaw Massacre aren't the same as Sleepy Hollow fans lo.

That's actually quite cool. My dad's on a business trip in America the week that Halloween is, and he's going to be really close to Salem, he really wants to go!

My birthdays Halloween so I don't usually get into the spirit much but would be awesome to see.

There will always be a happy ending. If its not happy then its not yet the end.

I've been to Salem and its a nice, quaint, villagey place in the way only New England places can be. The House of Seven Gables is there as well. Boston is only a few miles away and that's a fun place to go. Its a huge uni town with over 250,000 students in area. I think we have more here but can't go wrong with New England this time of year.

All those poor pumpkins, this is why I eat mainly meat.
