Ok so apparently the care company can't do it anymore because of staff shortages due to covid.
I imagine most care companies will be in the same position so I'm worried this may take a while
I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!
I'd definitely text your mum and also seriously consider contacting a patient advocate.
Staff shortages are understandable on one hand. But on the other hand it's unfair, unreasonable, and unethical to keep you in a locked hospital environment when you don't need to be there.
Please do not give me virtual hugs unless you are only using the hug function on threads. Thanks.
You can't always keep it separate.
This is happening, this is part of you.
That is very true.
Especially when there's no real leave beyond the time I have out with the smokers or a 15 minute walk round the car park maybe twice a week.

Waiting for the council to contact cpn about carers
It wasn’t today so just hoping it gets sorted this week. Cpn said she’d text me when she hears something.
It’s hard being on the ward
There’s a new lady who keeps going on about something being wrong with her blood and it’s immensely triggering
I mainly stay in my room anyway but it’s hard not to hear her sometimes

Oh that does sound really triggering. Are you allowed headphones? Even if you just put on white noise or something? If not, could you ask if they have a white noise machine you could borrow?
I'm so angry for you. They better sort it out ASAP so you can get home!

Yes I am allowed headphones.
I mainly watch stuff on the ipad but I tend to hear her at mealtimes when we're in the dining room when I don't have headphones in.
Thanks!
I'm really hoping I hear something tomorrow

Do you feel comfortable telling her that type of talk is triggering and asking her to stop, or telling the staff and asking them to? That shouldn't be allowed.

There would be no point in telling her.
She's really not with it most of the time. And keeps randomly shouting and swearing at people. Would rather stay away from her.
I've talked to staff about it and they said they told her to stay in her room if she wants to talk about that sort of thing. So hopefully she does.
Though her room is right next to mine so I hope she doesn't start shouting about it

Do you have noise cancelling ear buds Becky? I found them really good in noisy environments. I don’t really know how they work but found somehow they cancelled background noise but didn’t stop me talking to people. I got mine off Amazon for about £15 I think.
No I don't Emma. I can't really order any though because I could be going any day now!
Good idea for future admissions though!
Thanks.
I have good news from my cpn. The care package has been put in place, just need a start date from care provider. Which will hopefully be very soon.

That sounds like a good plan. What have you got to distract yourself with? Hopefully things will be sorted sooner than you expect. It's really annoying how slow support is sorted out when you're in hospital but you're on the way!
I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
