What do couples DO together?

Me and my hubby have been together for 8 years, married for two, but only living together for 3 years, and for 2 1/2 of those 3 years we were struggling with money/recently emmigrated to a new country (His old country but whatever)

So now i'm left with a 22 year old gamer for a husband, and since i really suck at games i'm left feeling a little like i'm babysitting a lot of the time. We have 'date night' which is literally going accross the street for an hourish to get away from his parents whom we live with! But what do 'normal' couples in the pre-kids phases do together? Really other than movies and eatins out there's not a lot of things i can think of, but i was kind of a recluse due to our early relationship being long distance, thus never leaving the house XD

Ooh, Ooh! My BF is a 21 y/o gamer.

and normal is just a setting on the washing machine....but what do we do?

*go out for coffee (he works at the coffee shop)
*go to the local jazz bar
*rent movies to watch at home, while snacking
*We have a few tv shows we like to watch, so we sprawl out on the living room floor and watch them.
*cook together.
*tickle fights.

Give him mouth present while he's playing, he'll love that. :D

Lol there needs to be some kind of gamer support group out there he zones out once the ps3's turned on! XD

We watch movies occasionally (Gotta love Netflix) it just feels like we are at home a LOT - possibly because we live in a basement and claustrophobias starting to kick in XD

Lol, tell me about it. I'm not a gamer either.
And yes, gotta love netflix!

Yeah, back when I was single, I'd force myself down to the local coffee shops to avoid feeling that way.

Yeah, 23 year old gamer hubby here. >.< It can be a very lonely life as a gamers wife. haha.

What we do is just spend as much "general" time together as possible.
For example, shopping & doing odd jobs.
I have started playing more games now and thats good for us. But you said thats not really an option for you.

Maybe start watching a series together, like 24 or Lost..

Me and the other half are lucky i guess because we live close to central London, and there are so many free things to do, or general stuff to wander around and look at.

We also um.. sit at home and drink tea and listen to country music. (we are oooold)

And generally wind each other up.

I dont think you really have to leave the house to do stuff as a couple. sometimes we cook together and stuff and thats nice.

(this is well embarrassing to write cos he is reading it as i type and just called me a soppy bastard)

My partner is 25 and a gamer. We have tv series that we watch together, Merlin, Dr Who, House, Terranova etc. We do shopping, laundry, odd jobs together, and have drinks out in the pub, we're both red wine drinkers.

Were there mutual interests / hobbies or whatever that brought you together in the first place? Like, I'm guess you got on well at first partly because you had stuff in common to talk about so maybe doing things together that involves those.

Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?

I can't stand gaming, i find it boring, but anyway...Me and my fiancee generally watch documentaries about ghosts, spook ourselves out with the ouija board, drive down to the coast and eat chips in the nice fresh sea air. We go Tesco at night a lot, just to browse the DVD section and buy lots of crappy food, online shopping for DVD's and clothes, looking for holidays to save up for, socialise with friends occasionally either at our house or at a nice country pub, somewhere quiet. We have an interest in crystals so we sometimes go Glastonbury and buy more crystals for our growing collection. We make dens too! lol i know it's a bit immature considering i'm 30 but building a den is fun! Occasionally we've camped in the living room, that's fun, put on a cd of the ocean waves and u think you are the beach camping!

Hope some of this helps!
