Smear tests and trauma

I'm asking for a couple of friends. Are there ways surgeries can support women who are scared about having smear tests because of trauma they have suffered in the past?

You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you wish to make.

Yes.
I cant work out if you're asking for things they can do. Or things they can ask the surgery to do. Or if they are part of the surgery and are making a leaflet or something. So here is everything.

Having an appointment just to discuss it.
Getting a description of what will happen before any clothing is removed.
Opposite clothing to what they associate with trauma, ie skirt if trousers etc.
If theres a nurse they trust ask them to be present can help.
There may be someone who has more experience and thus may be quicker.
Might help to take someone with you or play music.
Tell them when its booked as they can book a double appointment.
Same sex/ different sex/ person who you will never have to see ever again.
Things like diazepam if nothing else works.

I usually ask if I can have a second person in the room and if they can tell me what they are going to do before they do it.

Thanks you guys, yeah Lillie sorry about that being unclear so both things they can do or the surgery can do. They're not part of the surgery they're people who've suffered trauma.
